When you feel stressed, stuck, frustrated, anxious, sad, hurt, grief or pain; your are experiencing RESISTANCE.
Most simply, resistance is an inability to accept what is. It’s an inability to deal with the reality of the moment. Emotions arise and we get overwhelmed and the more we resist them, the worse we feel.
Letting go of resistance is letting go of control. We invest so much energy into controlling everything that we experience and feel. To awaken is to realise we actually have no control over any of this. Ultimately we have no control over anything. We don’t even control our body.
EXERCISE;
Notice the tension in your body. How does it feel with this resistance? Is there an emotion present?
Then see if you can just accept what is, without analysing it, and see how your body now feels. Can you sense a difference in your heart rate and muscle tension? It’s fascinating to see what our resistance to life does to our bodies and then see what acceptance does to our bodies.
With acceptance you should feel a calmer state of being. Or feel a little more disassociated with the issue that caused the tension. This is more aligned to the truth of who you are.
When you finally accept your emotions, and just observe them and allow them to pass, then you are making a choice to LET GO and release resistance.
Ultimately you come to this effervescent, shining sense of okay-ness with yourself, and you wake up.
